El Peso Hero: Guardian of the Borderlands

Launched in 2011, “El Peso Hero” is an independent, creator-owned series inspired by Dallas-based educator and artist Héctor Rodríguez III about his upbringing in Eagle Pass, Texas. The bilingual hero who speaks only Spanish has become a symbol of resilience, identity, and justice for Latino communities on both sides of the border. Featured in the Eisner Award-nominated anthology “Latinx Comics Studies: Critical and Creative Crossings” (Rutgers University Press).
