This exhibition will be held from April 3 – May 22, 2021. Gallery hours are by appointment only on the following days: Thursdays from 4 pm to 8 pm and Fridays and Saturdays from 12 pm to 8 pm.

Overview

This years Día de los Muertos exhibition at the LCC will showcase artists in our community through altars. The exhibition hopes to highlight work that is reflective of honoring our deceased loved ones and celebrating all that they represent. 

Timeline

Altar Registration: Monday, October 19, 2020, by 5pm                                                            

Altar installation: October 21, 2020, 5-9pm

      October 24, 2020, 2-8pm

      October 28-29, 2020, 5-9pm 

Exhibit display: Friday, October 30, 2020, 6-9pm during the Dia de los Muertos Festival

  Saturday, November 7, 2020, 1-5pm

Pick-up altars:                       November 10-14, 2020, Times TBD (Tue-Sat)

Eligibility

  • Altars cannot exceed 4 ft. x 4 ft.
  • Altar will be assembled on rolling platforms provided by the LCC. All items on the altar must be securely attached so they don’t fall off the platform.
  • No food or candles allowed. Only battery powered candles allowed.
  • The LCC will NOT be providing tables for altars

Join us for virtual art classes! The Latino Cultural Center in partnership with Oil and Cotton will begin our first after school program of the school year. Students will explore the work of local Latinx artists through the use of different media, such as, pencil, ink and acrylic paint. Students will work in a variety of dry and wet drawing mediums, stressing finished pieces.

This FREE after school program is for students age 10-14 and the enrollment deadline is Friday, October 9, 2020.

Join the LCC for its third annual Art Mercado and support local Latinx artists and artisans. La Pulguita will be a great way to shop for a special piece of art for your family and friends while supporting local artists at the same time. Admission to La Pulguita is free and open to the public.

This year’s Pulguita will be held outside on our plaza to better observe social distancing guidelines. Masks MUST be worn at all times by both vendors and visitors.
